Punted Like a Gnome

February 20, 2009

Well finally, after months of gearing and raiding I am starting to get back to the way I like to play. Of course as a guild leader if I was ignoring the raiding demands of the guild that would be selfish and would not allow us to grow once Ulduar comes out. But now that my demand for heroics is lowered I can hop on and have some fun.

I prefer the wondering what I will do when I log on rather than scheduled raids. Although I will continue to raid and show some of the content, that is not the main focus of my videos.

Over the last 2 years I have acquired a vast audience that is interested in different videos, so I try to keep them varied so that everyone can enjoy. Everything from PVE to PVP, with gold, leveling, and time saving tips contained within.

Ramparts was a ton of fun, and I was surprised on the big difference, since I hadn’t been in there since level 70. When searching for members to run, by looking to guild or typing /who 58 or /who hellfire, I had found that there were a lot of Deathknights. I tried to limit my groups to 2 Deathknighs maximum. The first power leveling run I made, I had no healing class in my group which was a huge mistake. Well I had figured I could solo it so healing wasn’t a concern, but with the additional players in the instance, the agro was all over the map. So a healer helped, while I regained control of the instance.
In this video the BOP items you saw drop were:

Watchkeeper Gargolmar dropped Scale Leggings of the Skirmisher

Omor the Unscarred dropped the Crystalfire Staff

After defeating Nazan the chest contained Kilt of Rolling Thunders, Witching Band, Shifting Sash of Midnight, and the Mok’Nathal Clan Ring,

By being exaulted with the Cenarion Expedition, I was able to purchase the Cenarion War Hippogryph.

New glyphs incoming soon

February 20, 2009

Eyonix chimed in on the General forums earlier to say that we’ll be seeing new glyphs soon. It’s just a small line, but it should be good news for all tradeskills. It’s very rare for them to add a significant amount of items to one tradeskill in a content patch and leave all of the others untouched. Personally, I think it’s a good sign that we’ll be seeing a lot of tradeskill love in patch 3.1, but maybe I’m reading into it too deeply.

Even if we’re in some crazy world where only Inscription receives tradeskill love, this is interesting news regardless. We might be seeing more glyphs incoming for a lot of our Wrath of the Lich King abilities that weren’t given glyphs, so we could experience the base abilities before we started augmenting them. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if we started seeing things like Glyph of Mind Sear in patch 3.1

Blizzard reveals new WoW Dungeon

February 19, 2009

‘Ulduar’ will go live in WoW’s next patch

“For millennia, Ulduar has remained undisturbed by mortals, far away from their concerns and their struggles. Yet since its recent discovery, many have wondered what the structure’s original purpose may have been. Some thought it a cit, built to herald the glory of its makers; some thought it a vault containing innumerable treasures, perhaps even relics of the mighty Titans themselves. Such speculations were wrong. Beyond Ulduar’s gates lies no city, no treasure vault, no final answer to the Titan’s mysteries. All that awaits those who dare set foot in Ulduar is a horror even the Titans could not, would not destroy, an evil they merely… contained.

Beneath ancient Ulduar, the Old God of death lies, whispering…. Tread carefully, or its prison will become your tomb.”

Ulduar is WoW’s most ambitious sounding raid yet. It is a natural progression from WOTLK’s newly introduced Naxxramas and Sartharion instances.

The new dungeon will comprise of two separate raiding areas. One section will be an epic battle between the player and a vast army that stands in front of the dungeon entrance. The second area will allow players to enter the actual dungeon to discover the “secrets of Ulduar”.

The dungeon will feature a total of 14 bosses, 11 of which will have an optional hard more.
For more details check out the official page.

The 3.1 patch will only be available to owners of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. It is set to hit  public test realms “very soon”, with nothing to indicate when it will be available to other realms just yet.

Are Paladins going to get nerfed?

February 19, 2009

There’s a cloud of gloom hanging over our collective Paladin heads over here at WoW Insider, and a lot of it has to do with the fact that Divine Plea still works. Even with the 50% healing penalty, Divine Plea is still a critical spell that’s used without much of a second thought. Now it’s just used a tiny, tiny bit less. Of course, Ghostcrawler also mentioned in his explanation of the new mana regeneration changes that they’re going to nerf Spiritual Attunement for “non-tanking Paladins,” too. So yes, there’s that cloud.

Here’s the thing, though… that change will hurt Retribution Paladins more than it will Holy Paladins. Retribution Paladins rely on the synergy of Spiritual Attunement and Seal of Blood / of the Martyr in addition to Judgements of the Wise, Replenishment, and Divine Plea. We’ll probably have to see exactly what the incoming nerf looks like before we panic, but considering how Paladins have a history of getting beaten by the nerf bat, it’s not an altogether rosy proposition. In fact, I think Paladins are probably going to get nerfed beyond the current Divine Plea and the future Spiritual Attunement. My thoughts after the jump.

Arenas. That’s it. I predict that Paladins are going to get beaten to a pulp with the nerf bat because Paladin representation in high rated Arena play is exceptional right now. Even though Paladin representation in raids or ability to heal in raids is about on par with other classes, the fact that our survivability and fast, big heals are dominant in the Arena environment spells inevitable doom. Blizzard has a history of nerfing Paladins when they’re on the rise. Remember the nerf to Blessing of Freedom? The nerf to Blessing of Sacrifice? That was directly because of Arenas.

In fact, Kalgan’s post back in 2007 is somewhat telling of Blizzard’s attitude towards balance. He said that Paladins were “grossly over-represented” at that time, even though this was merely the beginning of Season 1. Those nerfs led to Paladins becoming the worst represented class in the 3v3 (the format of professional Arena play) months later (2nd worst in 2v2 and 2nd best in 5v5). I think Blizzard has improved a lot in their attitude and sensibilities since then, but the stigma remains.

Unless the other classes — even at least the healing classes — start catching up in Arena representation soon, Paladins are going to get whacked by the nerf bat. Mark my words. It will have little to do with mana regeneration, it will have little to do with raid superiority. It will have everything to do with Paladins making up a full quarter of the top classes in Arena play. Guess what? Survival Hunters make up a fifth of that. So they’re going to get nerfed, too. This is part of Blizzard’s struggle to keep all classes balanced in all aspects of the game. It’s an impossible task, but you have to hand it to them for trying. In the meantime, I’ll leave you a word of advice. Panic.

The new spell Sacred Sheild works awsome in any AOE pull, and the new taunt Hand of Reckoning is awesome to have. Hand of Reckoning comes in super useful in raiding.

Easy Gold in World of Warcraft

February 7, 2009

I’ve recently collected about 300g without doing anything but sitting in Org for a few hours mailing items.

How you ask? I think I’ve come up with the ultimate mail scam.

To start, go to General goods vendor and buy about 200-300 wrapping pappers (45 copper per paper). Also fill your packs (all 16 slotters empty) with blacksmiths hammers (16 copper). Wrap all the hammers. Sit at mailbox clicking on 60’s walking by and type in their name into the mailto (or just open the who list and search for 60s on the server), put 1Gold COD (or more!) and put the present. send. move on. don’t even put a message, you could if you really wanted to but I find this a waste of time. Just keep doing it, find guy, click, type name in mailto, put prezzie in 1gold COD and send.

You’d be surprised how many people will pay 1g to see what’s in the box.

WARNING: Use this trick at your own risk, people have made a LOT of gold doing this but also take the chance of getting banned, be careful.

Also helps to have a weird character in your name so they can’t whisper you. My name was ÁrrakBBlizzmade me change it because of this.  I know this is a nice little trick, but if your serious of making tons of gold quicker and in a more legit way then you may want to check out a guide a lot of people have been talking about lately, the Valkor’s Gold Guide, there is a small fee for it, but it is worth it in my opinion.

Horny WoW girls and their tales

February 6, 2009

My friend is in a fairly large WoW guild on the Hydraxis realm. A female guildmate sent him pictures and a video of herself, which were pretty brutal. In respect for the guild, it will not be named, nor the players involved. Later, she invites him into a private vent channel and calls me on MSN via voice chat.

I set Audacity to record all sound input. My friend had to turn up the volume on his headset and let his mic pic it up. Sorry about the quality.

Keep in mind that he only met this girl that night. The two of us were pretty much speechless throughout, we both know what she looks like-if you knew, you wouldn’t know whether or not to laugh or be scared.

Enjoy!

Blizzard announce class changes for patch 3.1

February 6, 2009

Blizzard has announced that their next major content patch (3.1) has some big things sin store, including the new epic raid dungeon “Ulduar”, as well as new items and some class changes.

The three classes Blizzard discussed forthcoming changes for are the Priest, Rogue and Shaman.
Below are the changes, as quoted by Blizzard

Rogue Changes:
- Hunger for Blood – instead of a self-buff, this ability can only be used when there is a bleed effect on the target. However, it has no stacks and grants a 15% damage bonus.
- Adrenaline Rush – the cooldown on this ability has been lowered.
- Lightning Reflexes – reduced to 3 ranks. In addition to 2/4/6% dodge, this talent now also grants 4/7/10% passive melee haste.
- Killing Spree – while this ability is active, the rogue does 20% additional damage.
- Savage Combat – now causes 2/4% physical damage done.
- Mace Specialization – this talent now grants haste in addition to armour penetration.

Shaman Changes
- Chain Lightning – now jumps to 4 targets but does less damage. We wanted to make the distinction between Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning clearer.
- Storm, Earth and Fire – this talent now increases all damage done by Flame Shock, not just periodic damage.
- Spirit Weapons – now reduces all threat, not just melee threat.
- Unleashed Rage – reduced to 2 ranks, now also increases your critical strike chance with melee attacks by 1/2%
- Totem streamlining: The Mana Spring and Healing Stream Totems have been combined. The Disease Cleansing and Poison Cleansing Totems have been combined
- We are also working on giving Enhancement and Elemental more PvP utility.

Priest Changes
- Divine Spirit – this spell is now core ability available to all priests.
- Discipline has access to a new talent, Power Word: Barrier. (Think of it as Power Word: Shield for your whole group).
- Several area of effect (AOE) heal spells have been improved:
- Prayer of Healing can be cast on any groups in your raid party.
- Holy Nova’s mana cost has been reduced.
- Circle of Healing now heals for more.
- Shadow priest PvP survivability has been improved: Shadow Form now reduces magic as well as physical damage. Dispersion now removes snares.
- Penance – this spell can now be targeted on the priest.
- Serendipity – this talent now reduces the cast time of Greater Heal and Prayer of Healing when Binding Heal or Flash Heal are cast.
- We are also working to give Holy additional PvP utility
